This is a small business site designed by HushWebs and hosted by HushServer. It gives you the benefit of a thoughtful, proven design. We have based our work on practices used to build the very best systems. Unlike other systems, it comes at a low 'commodity' cost. We know of no better deal, with an established company, anywhere else. Better yet, we know there is no better value. Our sites come from a decade of research. If you are a viable business, or an employed professional, our sites will pay for themselves. If you are keeping a site for a club or family, our sites give you the very best 'bang for the buck'.

You can find promises of more for less, but there are always 'traps' or 'gotchas' of some kind. If your site is important to you, you belong with a company like ours. We have a history of providing value for money since 1992. We have provided web hosting, in particular, since 1999.

Research and Development

These sites benefit from a decade of research to determine the best 'bang for the buck' from a small business website. Many things have been taken into consideration that even the best of the big business sites do not. Furthermore, our sites are designed specifically to maximize the return on investment (ROI) for small businesses. Our sites will pay for themselves. Very few companies would dare make such a claim about this type of product.

Below, we speak about just a few aspects of the site. Many, many more things were considered in these designs. You will find that our current generation of designs will validate properly, display in nearly every browser (we have tested more than 40)

Color Scheme

We choose Color schemes to allow easy viewing. They translate reasonably for printing. They are also visually pleasing without being distracting. The background and foreground colors are variants of one another such that the background color has more 'white' than the foreground color.

The background colors we use are generally some sort of 'off-white' to prevent glare from making the site tedious to view.

Layout

The layout of the site is simple, with things where you would expect them to be. [See navigation below]. We strive to express dimensions as percentages of the screen or relative to the font size. We set up Style sheets so that the site can be accessible to the visually impaired. When fonts resize, the whole page changes shape to reflect the change. When printing, we strip screen elements away so the site will print nicely.

We try to make our sites work the same as each other. They are like other well-designed sites on the web. If you know how to navigate other sites on the web, ours are easy to use.

Graphics

Our visuals (Graphics and logos) are simple. This makes them easy to produce. It saves you money. They are simple to re-produce for business cards and stationery. They provide a simple, but crisp and professional look.

We can give you document templates for business cards, and instructions for creating cards from your site logo.

Using The Site

We have made our sites simple. You use them in much the same way as you use other popular sites on the web. The left hand side of the screen contains a menu. The top border has often has links related to the page. There may be tabs or right side navigation instead of or as well as the left hand navigation.

As a rule, we put the main logo on the upper left corner of the page. It links back to the home page. This way, visitors can always get back to the beginning, even if we make a mistake.

• You can give mail accounts to employees, business associates or even friends and family that need one.

• You don't have to worry so much if your computer breaks down or even if You have one. You can get your mail from anywere with webmail, right from your own server.
• You can store important files (encrypted of course) for backup on your web server. That means You can recover from a failure on your own machine.
• You can put important files You need on the server and access it from anywhere. This is great when You travel.

• Say you are putting together a team to bid for a job -- team members can all have the same domain name. It gives you a nice, clean corporate presence.
• We have thought of everything. You can even open up a store on the web with online catalogues, ordering and e-commerce.

How hard is it to set up the site?

• Picking and finding a great domain name is a little trouble, but You get a little help from us and our automated system. It suggests variations on names you select. It only takes an hour or so to find a good name. We have several hundred 'premium' domains that you can choose from as well.
• Other than the domain name, You can e-mail a resume, send letterhead and other material and then wait for a few days. That is about it.

What does this cost?

• It is surprisingly affordable. A small business site similar to this one costs (as of this writing) $249.00 to set up. That includes the domain name and a year of hosting, a small graphic logo and about five pages of content. After that, the cost is $109.00 per year to keep the site on our servers. • There must be advertising or something. For a site such as this one, there is no advertising. You own the site. We usually put a link at the bottom to HushWebs and to HushServer. You can remove these if you like. Both are convenient because they give you a direct link to support. We sometimes will offer free site hosting with a domain name and the site is advertising supported. However, the advertising is discrete, tasteful and it only advertises HushServer domain registrations and packaged products.
• It is a proper site. Assuming normal traffic (we have ten years of experience with this), response times are good.
• It's the real deal.
